Very careful cutting....J/K

Ok, most of it....just all the seats, and visors....I skipped the door cards....as mine are in better shape than the donor car.

So I have a *hybrid* interior.....'82 door cards, and '91 seats and visors.

Uh oh!! I pulled my headrests and rails from a 420SEL with reclining rear seats... does this mean it won't work in my 300SD? I'd rather know now than find out after I've pulled the rear seat...

No, like I said, I pulled mine from a 500SEL with reclining seats and put them in my 300SD. You should be fine. I think sixto was referring to replacing the entire seat back.

Ah, good. I noticed that you said they were pulled from a SEL, but not all long wheelbase W126's have the reclining rear seats, right? I was just worried that there was something different about headrest/frame assemblies from reclining seat frames that made them incompatible the rear seat frames in our non-reclining short wheelbase cars.

Glad it went smoothly for you! I'll make sure to take care when poking holes. I have a little experience with it- I installed new TEX on my driver's seat, and had to poke holes in that when I did it. The plush padding and curvature made it a little tricky to hit the right spot, but I figure it should be easier on the rear seat than it was on the front.

So Brian, did you ever get the headrests installed?

I picked up an entire rear seat back from a 560SEL at Sun Valley Mercedes Dismantlers yesterday. The interior color matches mine and the headrests are in good condition. I figure by having the entire seat back, I can take my time removing the rails and trim pieces. My only concern is cutting the holes in my seat to install the headrests.

I also bought the B and C-pillar covers off the same car and am going to replace the ones on my car.

Those trips to the salvage yards sure can be fun sometimes...particularly when the salvage yards only stock MB!
