No Glow Light

Here's the situation. No glow light. Bulb in Dash works.

5 new Bosch Glow Plugs. Holes reamed.
All wiring in good shape.
Glow Light bulb in dash works
Before and after Glow Plugs car starts after about 5 to 6 seconds of cranking from a cold start

Its been a while since my last Diesel Benz, so is this average time for a start? Is the glow plug relay bad?

For WHunter. All Parts Express sells the relay and plug combo, but can just the relay be obtained minus the cost of the glow plugs?

Check for voltage at plugs with key in glow position. If no voltage, check strip fuse in relay. Report back.

Thanks. Will check voltage tonight. Fuse strip is intact when I checked the other day.

With a properly functioning glow system, how many seconds is the typical crank?

That seems like it's taking way too long to start...I doubt your glow plugs are glowing.

Like the others have said, make sure the plugs are getting 12V. If they aren't, it's either the relay, wiring, or the strip fuse.

Turns out that it was in fact the relay. I tested by swapping out one from the car of a family member. Replacement on order.

Did you rule out poor connections at the strip fuse?

Yep, I nearly pulled my hair out chasing a charging/drain issue. I swapped the GP relay with a new one from Fastlane and all has been well since.

Thanks. It seems that the relay with the glow plugs is cheaper than the ones without. I would have purchased that one, but I have no need for the extra glowplugs now. What would be the cost of the package of the relay with glow plugs, minus the glow plugs?

What is the difference amongst the relays shown?

Thanks!
