I think mine still has the original from the look of it. I honestly don't bother carrying first aid kits in cars here anyway. They never last a summer in the heat. All the glues go to heck and the liquids burst open.
Better to just keep a small kit in your backpack/briefcase/fanny pack/purse or whatever applies.

inspect the condition...
Luckily in the wagons the FA kit is stored behind one of the rear side pannels thoroughly protected from sun exposure. About a month ago, in the field I needed a bandage (bandaide) and I reached for the first aid kit, pulled one out and used it just fine. The kit is 26 years old.
If the packages are still sealed, where the glue on the outer paper wrapper has not disintegrated, then likely the contents are still good. Liquids such as disinfectants would have evaporated by now. The adhesive on bandages will likely be dependant on the state of the outer wrapper. Gauze if still sealed should be fine and usable as it is sterile cotton, unless it is exposed, should still be good for a long time.

I got a deep cut in my hand last year and the closest emergency supplies were my old 1987 300TD's original first aid kit. I used the disinfectant paste and the cotton gauze without problems.
