Jumpy Meters
I have noticed lately that my fuel meter shivers and jumps once I reach half a tank and under. Its indication of fuel levels going from full to half a tank is fine. But as I continue to consume fuel with less than half a tank, I notice the meter moves about quite a bit. This occurs even on flat, strait stretches of road. Is this unusual? Has anyone had an experience like this? Is this an easy problem to remedy?
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, James

In my experience this would probably mean a bad electrical connection somewhere, usually an earth lead.
Not that I am very successfull in fixing such problems myself, auto electrics tend to have a surreal attitude about them, and I'm not the first to have said that.

Mine Does the Same Thing - 1977 300D
It is something that I have just gotten used to. I just fill up based on trip odometer and make sure that I don't get too close to empty.
Reason,,,,no idea. |
