Seat hinge replacements

Some soft body iron and an evening in the shop produced a set of new hinge covers, needed after a SD seat rebuild. The 25 year old plastic covers were brittle and could not be removed in tact. Using an old cover to trace the shape onto the sheet metal and adding the edge depth. Pound over a sharp edge or vice then a round bar for the ends. The iron sheet is not hardened and is very easy to form. At the local auto upholstery shop I found a very close colour and grain match for the vinyl. Used 3M 77 spray adhesive to adhere to metal parts. Contact cement will melt the vinyl, ask me how I know this.
The is soft sheet is great for forming new floor panels when the originals rust out.
