How to fix a sagging headliner?

Specifically, on a W123 chassis. This is one of the few things that's keeping the interior of my 300D from being in "near" mint condition.

Mine is just sagging slightly a the rear on my W123. Like a bar on the drives side became un-attached from the roof and it causes the headliner to sag a little. Im afraid of touching it~making it worse. Where is yours sagging speedy?

Mine sags where the rear dome light is. It's not too bad now, but it's one of those things that gets worse with time. There has to be an easy way to fix this...

In our part of the country there are shops that just do "headliner" work along with interior work. Take it by them and get an opinion.

I think the service manual has steps on replacing the headliner. Using these steps you could probably remove enough of the trim and peel the headliner back to spray some adhesive up there, then carefully press the headliner back into place.

Seems to me that the only way to go, is to remove the headliner entirely, and then re install. It can probably be removed after taking off the pillar covers, that the front and rear seatbelts retract into, and removing the sun visors and the vinyl cover that contains the front dome light.

Part of the reason I haven't yet attempted this, is because I'm scared of breaking something! Interior parts tend to be expensive....
