post up what your project is... I'm always dreaming of a Merc/sbc adapted
rig.. http://www.transmissionadapters.com/Mercedes%20diesel.htm Also http://www.4x4labs.com but I think their site is not up yet.. they are shipping adapters now I heard after 4 years or more of waiting. price seems to be about the same IIRC

I was told the 1st 25 were shipped form 4x4 lags... remains to be seen I guess. Repsectfully.. So why cant you make a heavier Chevy flywheel work on a 617?

That's a small engine for a heavy truck. I am putting an OM617 5cyl turbo into a Ford Courier, using a Ford small block pattern 5speed. You can redrill the flywheel that goes with the transmission to fit the Mercedes engine, then figure out how thick of a plate you need and make your adapter.
There is a forum on 4btswaps.com specifically for the OM617 engine, there's been a few interesting swaps on there. I'll be posting my build thread there as time and money allow. I'll probably start really getting after it next month, I am wiring up an EJ22 swap in my car right now, so I don't have any time, money or space for the diesel swap right yet. |

One of the conversions I've liked the most is a 617 into an old Jeep FC with a camper on the back. I think there's a thread here somewhere with pictures.
Here's the build thread: http://bb.bc4x4.com/showthread.php?t=123204
