THE 2010 E-CLASS DIESELS?

ANY SEEN AT MB DEALERS AROUND THE COUNTRY?

MY DEALER SHOWS NONE ON HIS WEBSITE FOR SALE.

WHEN WILL THEY ARRIVE?

ANYONE KNOW?

Craig 01-16-2010 05:00 AM

My local dealer does not show any either, have you called?

Skid Row Joe 01-16-2010 12:39 PM

No, haven't called. I seem to recall February '10 as their projected arrival/sales date anyway.

But I was wondering if some great deals could be had during the first weeks of their arrival to get them on-the-streets, and perhaps arouse interest in other car buyers. The Japanese have done this in the past - heavily discounting a brand new model in the showrooms only. Not something they ever advertised.

Show up at the dealership with a checkbook and see what they will do for you.

What will happen with the 250D model. I hear that a W212 with a 4 cyl motor will be sold.

they wont import the 4 cylinder over here.

I was under the impression that 09 was the last year for the diesel car and beginning 2010 it was only going to be available in the suv.

Maybe, the current US website only lists the R, ML, and GL as diesels:

I read an article that said they were planing on it.

It's our local Auto show this weekend, and I plan on attending tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing the new E Class up close. I've seen a couple on the roads and the drivers seem to be smiling. I take that as a hopeful sign.

I will be bummed if they don't import the 250D to the US. To me it seems like the spiritual successor to the 240D. A lot nicer though.

Edit: I just checked the MBUSA website and they have little blurb about the upcoming "E350 BlueTEC sedan". Sounds like they're continuing with their one Diesel engine fits all marketing strategy.

I didn't find that, do you remember where it was on the site?

Thanks, I guess that answers the original question for the e-class, it says "coming summer 2010."

As a 2011.

(In VW Speak that would be a 2010 and a half.)

German stocks - Factors to watch on October 9

FRANKFURT, Oct 9 (Reuters) - The following are some of the factors that may move German stocks on Friday:

DAIMLER

The luxury automaker faces quality problems for its new flagship diesel engines for the C and E class models, German daily Handelsblatt reports citing an unnamed spokesman. Defect injection nozzles from car parts maker Delphi led to a recall of 25,000 cars in Germany, the newspaper adds.

"Bosch and Continental use hydraulic action in their Piezo injectors to lift and lower the needle valve in the injector: Piezo ceramics change size when an electric charge is applied and that provides the motive force

Delphi however goes on about a “direct acting” piezo system which means it is much quicker but that requires a long piezo stack directly linked to a needle valve.

All that could perhaps be simply less robust than older designs and is in engines that have the fuel pressure cranked up to 2000Bar: 29,000psi in old money!"
