You say it does it after the car has stopped. But is that when in neutral with the clutch out or with it depressed? I wasn't sure from your posting as you said you both "rode" the clutch in stop go traffic and had it in neutral on some occasions.

Sorry, I wasn't clear on that. Yes, I meant with the clutch pedal down, in gear ... which is why the clutch entered my mind. The car did not make any noises on the way home, which was a much nicer, traffic-free drive. I'll be running some errands in it shortly so I'll report back.

If I hit traffic like that on the way to work again today (please no), I'll try to move it to neutral when possible. The people behind me can deal with not having me floor it to catch up to the next gridlock 20 yards away.

Well, today it hardly did it ... only did it twice, and both times it wasn't when the clutch was depressed. It really sounds like a metal-on-metal squeak rather than a rubber suspension squeak, if that makes any sense. It's almost a chirp. Maybe it is the brakes, but it just comes so late in the braking process ... weird. Guess I'll see if it progresses. Now the car is suffering power loss on the highway (yes, I'm using power in a loose sense), so I need to figure that out before I drive it to work again anyway. Maybe just fuel filters or lift pump hopefully. Rats. I was doing so well with this car!

You have a fair amount of miles on the car. Not as many as were on mine when I bought it. I sure hope you can keep it going for a long time to come and not make the mistake I made of parting with it.

I don't think I could part with this car. I've come so far with it and learned so much from it. It sure has been starting nice since I put the new glow plugs in, even when it's really cold out.
