2006 E320 CDI....RUNNING HOT!

My inlaws have a 06 E320 CDI that I tried to help them out and feel like I have opened up a can of worms. Their car needed a new serpentine belt, I installed a new belt, to do so I removed the radiator hoses and removed the aux fan to get enough room to do the job. When I got everything put back together the temp gauge never seemed to get to 80 degrees put the heat worked perfect and it didnt seem to have an air lock or anything. They drove the car for about two weeks and now the car is trying to run hot, it does fine driving stays just a click above 80 degrees but when you come to a stop it just takes it a second to shoot up getting close to 120. I never let it get that warm I turn the car off before it overheats. I tried a new thermostat which came with a new coolant temp sending unit but that didn't seem to do anything, still running hot. My question is and I have looked at the connector to make sure I plugged it in good and I did but my aux fan isn't kicking in at all when the car is very hot. I am not sure what temp the aux fan is supposed to kick in but I am sure when it is close to 120 it should be kicked in for sure and this one is not. What fuse is for the aux fan? Does it have a relay that controls it? The fuse chart that is in the left side of the dash just seems to name the fuses in that compartment and the trunk fuse panel but not the fuse box in the engine compartment. If anyone knows what fuse or relay controls the aux fan that would be great or any further suggestions for me to try? Thanks
