Vacuum Pump Rebuild Kits (new style)

Hi,

I've been casually looking for a vacuum pump rebuild kit for the new style pumps (300D) and it seems _everywhere_ is out of stock. Not sure I need to do the rebuild, but just planning out the various possibilities and budgeting....

Has MB discontinued the kit?

Cheers,

Michael

Go to "buy parts" at the top of the page. They sponsor this Forum and the price is right.

One of the "Flys in the Ointment" concerning rebuilding a Vacuum Pump is there is actually 2 rebuild kits.
One for the Piston Part at around $70
One to replace the Drive Arm/Bearing Assembly (expensive) that actually rides on the Fuel Injection Pump Timer. These are the parts that when they fail there is a good chance of the pieces getting into your Timing Gears and causing serious Engine Damage.

If you do both kits you have spent just about the cost of a new Vacuum Pump and have no warranty.

Other stuff that might be of interest:
New Vacuum Pump Ruined due to too much Timer Bearing End Play (the title from my notes).

Who has or knows someone that has experienced a timing chain breakage/failure?
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=203364

Some said they thought the Vacuum Pump had failed and cause the Timing Chain Failure so I ask:

What in particular causes vacuum pump failure?

You already have it.
Buy, using the term new style the poster was saying it was not the older style with a rubber diaphragm or diaphragms; but, the newer style with a piston (If yours is origional it is a new style Piston Type Vacuum Pump).
