300SDL sunroof seized @*&# !
I seen a bunch of posts on this problem for replacing the motor/ gear but, I wanted to know if the sunroof cable that connects to the motor is able to be pulled with hands/ pliers to get the sunfoof to open ?
I have pulled the motor off and cant get it to budge, I have even tried pounding on the front sunroof lip to push back and nogo, is it stuck for good ? or am I just missing a simple step to free it up. OR do I need to start ripping out the headliner to get to an inner mehcanizim that might be the culprit? thanks for your suggestions W123 300TD ( converted to WVO) W126 300SDL ( stock) |

I have never owned one of these second generation ones that works 100% properly. I would just leave it shut...

I use the one in my SD at certain times of the year, but I just believe the design is flawed. If it is truely stuck, you need to fully disassemble it. Clean it properly. Lube it with the MB slide paste ONLY. Then reassemble. Otherwise it will just continue to fail.

There is an emergency crank located near the sunroof motor in the trunk. I don't remember what size socket you need off the top of my head but I do know it is in my owners manual.

If you pop the headliner down you can get at the bolts that hold the panel on.

yes, I tried turning the 21mm? emergency socket but it just binds and starts bending the motor mount, I also tried tightening the clutch on the motor but still nogo has any body tried manually pushing or pulling the cable in the trunk to see if it is possible on a properly adjusted/ working sunroof, maybe its NORMAL ? to need the power of King Kong to push or pull that cable, since human power cant get it to budge.
