Well I did it. 06 CDI
Well I bit the bullet and bought a 2006 E320 CDI. Its black on black with 32,000 miles. Originally a TX car. Its so clean they used it at the Harrisburg Auto Show CPO display. I will hopefully have some pics later this week. Has P1 package, Nav, Sunroof, Rear Shade, Harman Kardon, 6 disk changer, Heated Seats and Sirius. Thanks to MBCA I will be getting a $750.00 gift card to use for service or accessories. Original MSRP 55.275.
Will appreciate any tips on what to look for?? Items or TSBs Thanks |
IIRC the bugeyes are known for their electrical and spring perch problems. Might have better results in the gasser forum. Engine should be rock solid.

2006 CDI
Dennis, I also have a 2006 E320 CDI-- I have 80K and all I can say is WONDERFUL.
I have maintained it exactly as the book says and haven't had anything of substance really happen. Be careful of the acceleration -- you can easily contribute to the state police fund if you don't watch it -- 100 mph is nothing and is very easy to get to!-- blink of an eye. I've used Mobil 1 0-40W and change it every 13K. I had an oil analysis done and except for the color the oil was within the "new" tollerance range. all the best 3pointstar |
Sounds like the exact car my dad got last summer. Only issue we had with it was a bad battery control computer, presumably because the battery went bad after it sat on the lot for 6 months. The engine wouldn't crank and an ESP/ABS malfunction message was displayed. New battery and control module installed under warranty and all was good after a couple weeks of being in and out of the shop for troubleshooting. Haven't had a problem since.
We got 38mpg going 65-75mph on a highway trip last Thanksgiving. I've found the computer calculation is slightly pessimistic, consistently 1-2mpg low compared to the fill up calculation, so we were probably doing close to 40mpg! |
2006 CDI
Excellent!
Is it still in warranty? |

Awesome! Sounds like a great car!
My friend has the gas version of this car and he loves it. Couple of notes: You need jack adapters to use a floor jack or for a lift. Be careful of some Bozo at a tire shop, trying to lift the car to install the tires without them. There are a couple versions of the brake system - sport and standard. These are not always documented through the VIN decode. You can tell just by looking at the front brake calipers. The sport version has large, gray calipers marked "Mercedes - Benz". Contrary to popular belief, you CAN replace the brake pads yourself. The job is no harder than any other disk brake equipped vehicle. Just remember, the SBS may activate if someone opens one of the doors. If your fingers happen to be in the way, you get to experience the pressure the calipers exert on the rotors first "hand"... |

So, you are buying "steel wheels" at a good price, along with snows from TireRack? |

I have a fair amount of wheel time on the W211's now, fantastic cars. I think they are better driving vehicals than the W210's. I have never driven the diesel but the V6 and V8 go like hell. You should really enjoy it! The V6 has just about the same power that the V8 did in the W210!:D |

Yes MB Financial is offering 1.99 % for up to 66 months on CPO used E class among others. Not all specials have been extended to March, but the EClass deal was extended. Heres a couple of the new one, I will post better ones once the car is in hand. I already ordered 4 michelin snows with MB replica wheels (8hole) that are to be delivered tomorrow as well. |
Congrats! I like the newer MBs as well... the 211 chassis is a nice design IMO. :)

Looking right now at a 2007 with only 10K miles discounted heavily.:deal: We'll see what I come up with. When the new MB diesel E-Class 2010s are released for sale - that should drop the price on the 2008s and before. Should be any day now.:anxious: |
