You're right, but left hand drive cars are highly regarded in Japan and were available. They're thought of as being more exclusive/upscale, etc. The E 400 AMG comes to mind.

The japanese-used-car Mercedes imports aren't that uncommon - I probably see one a week around here.

Canada did not have cloth seats or manual climate control. Everything we got here (at least during the W201 / W124 time period, mid 80s - mid 90s) was the same as the US models. In the past few years, we've gotten a few different models though (e.g. the diesel smart and the B class).

Not true I saw canadian model W124 1993 300D without power seats and daytime running lights. In USA power seats were not an option on W124 they were part of standard equipment.

GSXR commented on that when I posted the pictures of the same car last summer. It seems like he said the OM603 was available in other markets into the 90s.

I believe it is still for sale at the same dealer. I think they will have it next summer too at the price they want.

I went and looked at a Euro W124 a year or so ago. Now granted, it was an '86, but it had an NA OM603. {and a standard tranny}
This one sure looks like the intake has 6 ports.

Here is a pic I found of that '86 Euro NA OM603

Looks nothing like the one in this thread, eh?

True. The Craigslist car definitely has a turbo 603. The 603NA engine was never officially imported into the USA. A few might have leaked in, I suppose.

It does have a wider plate frame on the rear, the front sheetmetal/grille/lights have been replaced indicating an accident, I remember it being determined from the earlier posting where a rear plate was still installed that it was an eastern-European country.

I have no desire to own a non-native car with hard-to-find parts with manual CCU (the automatic system on the 124 was great), no sunroof, cloth manual seats, etc. especially at a premium price, I'd sooner own a US car in excellent original condition.

To each his own, but I agree with Bio that it'll be there a while at that price.

Absolutely, the car is far overpriced. I was just admiring the manual climate control and the it's lacking a sunroof (never liked those much).
