Rolled the W124...

The back end came out when I hit a patch of ice at 60mph yesterday. Tried to steer into the skid but must have overcompensated because the car snapped side to side twice, hit a wall then rolled sideways twice.

As soon as the car stopped rolling I asume all of the crankcase oil ran into the cylinders as the revs went through the roof and it started belching blue/white smoke from the exhaust. About 20 seconds later is slowly seized to a stop.

I managed to undo my seatbelt, open the door, then crawl out and walk away with the only damage being a slightly cut hand from crawling through glass.

What a car.

Wow. Glad you made it through. That is impressive. In most other cars you would have been a goner.

Yeah everyone there said I was lucky to be alive. The firemen who pulled it off the road seemed very impressed by how it had held up. Even though I was the only one in there, all 4 seats remained in tact with headroom so any potential passengers would have been fine too.

It was in North Wales chazola, on the A5 near Capel Curig if you know the area.

Sorry for your loss, but at least the car saved you.

It looks so much easier to replace steering and exhaust components with it upside down like that.

It had so many silly issues and rust problems that it was getting close to being parted out and scrapped anyway. So I'm not that sad about the loss of the car, it went out with a bang.

That's good to hear .

Truly a testament to the safety, and now you've got an excuse to buy another.

Glad you're ok. As soon as I saw the road markings and surface I knew it had to be somewhere in Europe. You wouldn't see a road like that in that kind of condition in the US. Road surface and markings too pristine for here.

Well then, I'll withhold my silly comments about how you're supposed to keep the shiny side up!

Glad you're intact.
