questions for 1987 300TD owners...
I am doing a pre-buy on an 87 300TD right now.
If the pre buy goes well I was wondering how easy/hard is it to find parts for this car? The car needs some TLC, new rear lights, need to fix the hatch struts, rear window does not work and some other few cosmetic things. Are the 300TE interior parts fit the 300TD? Thanks Frederic Last edited by fred98050; 02-13-2010 at 07:03 PM. |

most of the wagon parts atleast mine will interchange. The hatch struts are a pain in the Asterik to do, there's a very helpful photo guide here on it. Idk about the interior parts... I know the tail lights from a 93 320TE worked on my 87 Wagon. There's a lot of 603's around I see them often around here, you can get many components here on all parts express, or Fastlane, there's also several handy people who have a lot of parts too. these are fun wagons, good luck with it!

there is a link to a buyer's guide somewhere on here... you might find it with some searching.
check that the sunroof works, air conditioning works, rear tailgate self-closes as it should. check the colour of the coolant. look at the fluid level for the SLS. try to check the casting number of the cylinder head.

Interior is identical to other wagons. 1990+ interiors are upgraded with more wood trim, but can be backfitted. Hatch struts are a PITA, also need to check for broken wires to hatch while you're in there. We had one for thirteen years, my wife loved it, five years later, she still misses her old diesel. Jim
