Someone save this ponton! 1960 190D

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270532764629&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1123#v4-29

Looks like an excellent candidate for restoration.

In 2 of the pics the hood star is there. In one of them it is missing? Weird?

I need to buy some land so I can start collecting cars!

My 61 Karmann Ghia could use some company waiting in line for restoration. She's tired of sitting by the 66 F-100.

Do pontons have the removal star or is that just the w107\w108 models?

I have the land in middle TN in case anyone wants to bring it. I wonder how much rust it has. Unfortunately, my 75 MGB has rusted away waiting and my 78 DatsunZ convertible conversion has been sitting for at least 10 yrs. My other Z awaits it's turbo transplant. All cars rust when stored outside on grass (except for a Delorean???). My sail boat has been out of the water for 2 yrs. I'm planning on taking a week in March to get the boat wet then the SD gets work then...who knows - perhaps the diesel ram will need a clutch. Work gets in the way of much more interesting things.

That car may have the curse of rusting out from the inside. If so it could be too late. Also anything requiring more than a moderate restoration can consume enourmous amounts of money.

It was not always this way. It is today in far too many cases. If nothing else you have to start with no rust to get through it. Just the way I see the wind blowing.

I would like to own a really nice gas fintail that never had any rust with true low milage. One of those dream on senarios.

To be fair I would spend a day on a body metal inspection on the posted car. There is a chance it is just mostly superficial. I have learnt to be careful. He does state the floors are good. That if truthful would help indicate it may not be too bad. I have to wonder how high it will go at the end of the auction.
