Arrow Fifth Annual Texas Mercedes-Benz Get Together-Saturday, June 5, 2010

The FIFTH Annual Texas Mercedes-Benz Get Together will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010. Caravans of Mercedes-Benz autos leaving from Austin, the DFW Metroplex, Houston and San Antonio will once again meet at the midway point between Houston and Dallas on I-45 known as Centerville for a day filled with automotive fun! This is an event open to all Mercedes-Benz owners, regardless of the age or condition of their car, from garage queens to daily drivers to beaters. Owners from points beyond Texas are invited, too. We've had repeat attendees from Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Kansas participate in this get together. Smart and Sprinter owners are invited to attend, too. After all, they're just our brothers with different badging. Do you have family members, friends, or neighbors who drive Mercedes-Benzes and don't know about this event? Tell them to come on out! The caravans will depart at a time that will give them a 12:00 Noon arrival time in Centerville. You can check below for the departure time for the caravan nearest you. We will have reserved parking and a BBQ lunch in a room reserved just for us at the world famous Woody's Smokehouse on the NORTHBOUND side of I-45. After everyone has eaten, we'll head 4 miles south of town on old Highway 75 to Fort Boggy State Park for the Show and Shine! Admission to Fort Boggy is FREE. Awards will be given out based on People's Choice for best Vintage Model (Pre 1980), Best 1980s Model "Young Classics", Best 1990s Model, and Best 2000-present Model. Bring the camera, water and some sunscreen to the park because it probably will be hot, though not as hot as the late-July meets (we're hoping for some mid-upper 80s temps this time around instead of 100+). Come on out to Texas's Premier Mercedes-Benz Event and have some fun with fellow BenzNuts. We're gonna have a good time!

Departure Points:
(If you are coming from a town not listed below, (ex: Beaumont, Tyler, Waco) and you are interested in setting up a caravan if you expect 2 or more other vehicles to come along, send me a private message so we can get something set up. Keep watching this list to see if any other cities get added.)

Sounds like my 116 Carburetors are not friendly to me.

I usually have to work the first Saturday of the month. Perhaps I can swap and work Sunday. I missed last year for the same reason. Let's hope it isn't 2 years in a row......

I think I finally rehydrated from that trip somewhere around September...

Seriously would consider bringing my swim trunks and taking my pasty self for a dip in that water hole at the park...

Well, I've wanted to do a cross-country drive in the 300D for ages ... I'm circling the date and we'll see. I don't get that much vacation time so I'd have to decide if I want to use it all up at once. And I want to get my rocker panels repaired before then ... I don't want to scare any of you rust-free Texas guys ...

Gee, I've always wanted to see what rust looks like so, come on down! Wait, it isn't contagious or anything like that, is it?

thinking ......

I realize this MIGHT be dangerous; however, I am thinking the following:

  1. This event needs to be promoted.
  2. Will I have a "trip worthy" Mercedes running by then?

I've posted announcements about the get together at 6 forums, 1 Facebook group and 1 MB magazine. There's probably more resources to tap, but I've gotten to all the big ones so far.

I meant there hasn't been a lot of "chatter" on the forum about the event. Maybe we are starting to make up for it and get some people thinking about coming this year. I am even starting to think about ..... IF I have a running, driveable MB.

There'll be more chatter as the event date draws closer. After all, I did post the announcements nearly 4 months before the meet, not a lot of chatter there. I find that the chatter usually picks up about a month or two before the event.
