What is this part called????

Ok I am a real shade tree mechanic (according to those that get paid for this stuff)
Son has a new to him 87 190d 2.5. I broke a part of the throttle linkage. There is a connecting rod that attaches to the fuel pump on the side of the pump. It goes straight down form the side of a plastic covered piece that closes a couple of relays as the throttle is depressed. When the throttle is depressed it pushes this rod down.
This rod has plastic ends that are now pretty brittle. We pieced it back together with wire, a couple of zip ties and some heavy wire insulation. It is working but likely not for too long. Missed the first half of the Duke game rigging this thing up. Argh.

What is this thing called and where do they come from?

Any help you can offer is appreciated.
rusty

A picture would probably be helpful.

It is pretty dark and hard enough to touch much less photo. I will try in the daylight tomorrow.

I assume your car is an automatic. Do you see the part in this picture?

Maybe

I believe it to be #173.

The assembly does not appear to be exactly the same though.

Wonder if there is a generic connector that can be sized to fit?

thanks,
rusty

VIN# would help on this part.

Is it manual or automatic transmission?
