Question K1 Clutch Pack Installation

I was hoping that maybe someone on here with experience with the 722.xx transmissions could point me in the right direction. I pulled the primary pump to replace it, however the K1 clutch pack decided to come along with it. I've been fiddling with it for a few hours and think its all the way back in but I'm not too sure. The service pdf I have does not go into detail other than saying to install the clutch pack while turning to engage the gear set. Is there anything to look for to know whether or not the clutch pack is in all the way? Also, which side of the front axial bearing faces the pump housing?

Thanks for your time

Nick

It has been awhile since I had my hands on the K1 clutch pack, but I would say that if you don't get it home and seated, your input shaft will not turn. I don't recall any tricks, but I do recall that it was a PITA.

Hmm, I don't recall the bearing, and unfortunately I trashed all my pix of the disassembly...just last night

If you make it a multiple choice quiz with some pix, I might just remember (or maybe not). Or.. call the guys at JIE.com..they will know for sure.

Rick

84 300SD Repair parts

You guys sound like you know somethings about the tranis in these cars. Can you tell me where I can get parts like "O" rings and gaskets without buying a complete over haul kit.
Thanks.

Thanks Rick. After fiddling with it for about four hours it finally went in---I used the polish mark from the brake band and the brake band to verify it had gone down as far as it could. I did some more digging and figured out the bearing thing so all is good---I hope *crosses fingers*. Tomorrow will tell
