606.910 & 606.912 difference in engines

I have a 1995 E300D and am looking for a used engine to bring her back to life. I have learned the engine is a 606.910 and was only used in 1995. 96 and 97 used a similiar engine, the 606.912. What is the difference between these two engines? Can I use an engine from a 96 or 97 and swap some parts off the old engine? Hopefully without too much headache. Thanks in advance

IP is completely different for one, the 210's have fly by wire throttles. Not sure what other electronic gizmos were added for the 210. You may be able to install the IP from the dead engine in the 95 on the good engine from the 210, but I'll let someone more knowledgeable in all things 606 confirm

I know for sure the turbo engines have thicker connecting rods. They may also have a beefier crank & pistons.

I have a '96 and have looked at the '95. As previously said, the '96 has electronic IP control whereas your '95 is mechanical. Swapping the IPs would be required. Otherwise I don't think the engines are significantly different. The '96-'97 OM606 is normally aspirated like your '95 so there is no turbo/intercooler to worry about. If you can arrange it, having both engines side by side will make comparing and swapping much easier.
