How to wire manual glow plug switch for 190D?

Of the wires that go to the glow plug controller/timer on the fender well, is there one that if you send a low amperage 12v signal to it it will turn on the plugs? I'd like to wire a manual momentary switch without having to install a solenoid. 1986 190d 2.5.

I put switch on my #15 connection on the relay. That is in the 4 prong connector . Then every time you push it in, your glow will start. I didn't use a push in switch but rather a toggle switch. This is my poor man's afterglow. I can flip switch off and on and get another 45 seconds of glow anytime i want. You can wire the L1 wire in that connector to a glow plug and your glow light will stay on as long as glow plug is on. Good for testing. Or wire some other light to a glow plug.

Thanks for implying that I didn't search, which I did. I'm asking about a 1986 190D, not a w123 or w124. Is the relay the same? Or, at least the wire colors?

I want to know which wire coming in to the relay on a 1986 190d lights the glow plugs.

HMMM, well I apologize if you thought I was implying that you did not search, that was the farthest thing from my mind.
I read this thread early this morning, and remembered a thread on the same topic just a while back. I dug through my notes, and, there it is, yes I knew I had it. so I listed it.

Now this evening, 6pm, I don`t remember now if I remember reading if your car was a 190 or not. Just trying to help.

Well, I feel like an a-hole. Very sorry. Thank you for trying to help. I don't know why online forums can be so adversarial at times. I'm used to experiencing it from others and now here I am as guilty as sin of the same thing. I do sincerely apologize.

As i said, the wire that activates the glow plugs is the one on terminal 15. You can see on relay they are labeled. It gets hot when you turn on the key for run and start as most things labeled 15 do. That activates the timer and the relay sends power through that big fuse on the relay to the plugs. Thats why you replace the #15 wire on your relay with the wire from your switch. If the power at #15 goes away, the plugs will cut off early.

Its real easy thanks to the great plug design where you pop open plug, pull out individual wires and replace with wire you want. A junkyard is handy for getting those wire connectors. I have never looked for those at an autoparts store. Anyone know a source for that type of wire terminal?
