Finally!!!

Finally,

After four years of looking and missing out, I finally have a MB. I recently purchased an 83 300D with a tick over 225K on her. All service records back to date of factory delivery, new tires, struts, glow plugs, recent valve adjustment and timing chain check, the list goes on.

I have wanted one of these fine machines for many years and now I have one coming (has to be shipped as I did not have the time for a road trip to bring her home.)

I'm no stranger to cars as I have been working and tinkering on them for the better part of three decades, and my current diesel stock includes a VW TDI and an old Volvo.

Looking forward to digging into this car with help from the fine folks on the forum. First on the list is complete fluid and filter changes (just to be sure) and digging into the vacuum system (when I looked at it the door locks were very weak and it looks like someone did some creative vacuum hose work in the engine bay :-( )

Anyway, enough rambling, I'll just sit here and wait impatiently for the car to arrive......

Glenn

Welcome to the MB world. Make sure you keep an eye on the Pacific Northwest Get Together that will be coming up.

Congratulations !! best of luck with it. We just bought a 81 300 sd.

I think the most fun is the C.S.I investigation when you first get it especially if it has all the records. Have fun !!

Thanks.

I agree, half the fun is finding things out. The fun stops when you find out the cost to fix what you find!!!

Welcome aboard. I too have an '83 300D with 220K and I simply adore the car. Hope yours brings the same satisfaction.

Ya, when I add up the PO's repair and maintenance bills produced for the car I bought, I'd say he came close to paying for the car again after its 20 year lifespan in his garage. Original bill of sale, $43K (for an 1987 300D).
