300CD - how much to sell it for?
i have a 1978 300cd. lovely sage color, some paint pealing. has run well for me, previous owner of 19 years was a mechanic. currently its not running- the crankshaft needs repairing or replacing. wondering what amount to sell it for (also curious about estimates of how much it would cost to get it repaired before selling).

Well, price a used engine for it, as it would be the non turbo in that model. Posting some pictures and more info like current mileage, interior shape...does the A/C work, cruise, sunroof, etc.

Well, I have an '80. Last year I ended up giving it to a friend, over a debt, who was convinced he was going to sell it for $2000 or more.
He went down to 1500, then to 1200, finally to 1000, to no avail. He considered scrapping it as the clean air district here was offering 1000 to surrender it; at this point I bought it back. Still runs good, a Cali car all its life, no rot coupe. Seemingly has little re-sale value...

Sure, it came with a non-turbo; but if you were going to do an engine swap wouldn't you first seek a turbo unit for it?

mileage matters. IMO, newer turbo models are more desirable, but a nice 300CD is tough to find.
Thing is, with quality the prices sharply increase, or look at it vice-versa.
