Question any interest in a DIY fixing the SD glovebox?

I successfully repaired two of mine, and I figured out a flaw in MB's design of the latch, and will have one of my machine shops build me a permanent fix for It!!!

Whats wrong with the SD glovebox? Haven't had any issues with mine except it takes a gentle touch...a slam will make it pop back open, but I'd say the design flaw would be in the person slamming it.

nope. the 123 has a side slide latch. it's a whole nuther ball of wax, sorry.
the problem I see with the 126 latch is the mount is plastic, and it cracks along the mold lines. allowing the latch loop to slip off the spring. mine kept popping off, and it would fall open locked or not every bump in the road.
all fixed now.
but it's a temporary fix, I wanna make a steel or brass/bronze cap for each screw and securely remedy the problem.

OK, i've done both 126 and the 123 doors now, and I can post instructions and pics for fixing the latches on both of them.
(the later 123 latches use a chintzy spring! get an old 123 glove box!!!)

I know this response is a little late but I too am having a problem on my 300SD with the glove box falling open. The PO had folded up some paper and jammed it at the top of the latch in the door to prevent the free motion of the hook.
