Current cost of OE battery
Anyone have an idea of the current cost of an OE battery through MB roadside assist? My battery had sat a while, and I had it below 11.5V. Brought it back with a charger and long drive, but it is no longer trustworthy.
May just have roadside come change it out to make it real easy. Any idea of the cost?

Sounds about right. One at AutoZoo is around $100, if you belong to MBCA, you a 10% discount at the dealer.

About $120.
Roadside usualy does it for free, IMHO its a great deal if your busy. Call them when your at the office and let them screw with it in the parking lot.

That is what I was thinking... Wedging the group 49 in against the windshield seal doesnt always go easily...

THe only MB that is difficult to wedge the Group 49 into is the 190....that is a pretty snug fit. We installed one in my sister's 190E after the Napa battery in it gave up this winter.

I found it hard the first couple times I did it on a 300D, but then I figured out how to manuever the battery and it's been relatively easy ever since. I was about to say something negative about not DIYing a battery change, but if they're willing to do it FOR FREE I guess I can't complain about that.

wallyworld, has the battery for 77.90, 2 10mm nuts, and 2 13mm nuts, and the battery swaps out pretty easy... ya don't get the MB star, but you do get a 3year free replacement, that you can make use of every 3 years forever... new battery every 3 years forever...

Well that is really part of my consideration... MB vs WM. I hate shopping at wal-mart, hate going there... But should I need a battery ever, they are all over and a replacement is pretty quick and easy as I hear.
Ive changed plenty of batteries in my various w123 cars. It is just getting that angle just right, with the heavy battery, outside, when I could be doing something else... versus having them come and do it for free. Ultimate in laziness, I know. not that it is hard, just that I could lift it or they could lift it... Boy, I am lazy...

my MB battery was 139 plus core at the local dealer.
I tried the roadside assistance method, but at 6pm on a weeknight in tallahassee, it was not possible to get MB roadside assistance. They offered to arrange for someone to give me a "jump" |

It is in the $130-$140 range as stated, and man-o-man did I want one of those cool white batteries.
But...... I ended up with the Duralast from Autozone. The reason: Mercedes and Autozone both have 2 year free replacement. But the MB warranty stops there. The Duralast prorates from year 2 to year 7 I believe, so I went with the potential value of that. And, not only have I had great personal experience with the Duralast in multiple cars, but tons of folks on here swear by them too. Now only if they were a cool white with those carying handles.....
