Hotrod 300D!
Well, it's all relative of course, but since I replaced my broken accelerator link mount (see picture), I come off the line like a dragon! Thanks to Randy L, who showed me the problem.
Very simple to replace, only about $40, I highly recommend you check your part. As you can see, I had lost half of the plasticized rubber dowel wheel that transmits the energy from the pedal, so I was only getting half the power! My air filter mounts (see picture) had also sheared off, so now the only klattering I hear is the good kind! Ah, I love my car!

Yeah, this should be a call to everyone to check their linkages. There should be no play, as I recently found out. With new injectors, she outta go like stink.

With an assistant pressing down on the pedal, did you find that you could still add more throttle with the broken mount?
On my car I had my brother press down on the pedal and I checked the linkages. I couldn't get any more movement out of them if I pulled on it. I'm assuming that this is the way to check if the mount is bad.

If it has failed, you can look at the pivot/bellcrank and tell that it's not lined up with the other linkages.
Barry, FWIW, I got home that afternoon and looked at the linkage on my TD; it was toast too. Had the part in stock, fixed it in 15 min.
