Sprinter questions

Any advice about older (cheaper) Sprinters would be appreciated. My wife and I would love to buy an older Sprinter and make a hillbilly RV. We've test driven several and really like them. Drove one today that had 438K miles. It still drove very well but I'm scared of any vehicle (especially a fleet type) with that many miles. I've been told that they are very specialized vehicles (so far as tools and diagnostics are concerned). Any words of wisdom on older, higher milage Sprinters?

the beauty of most fleet vehicles, is the mileage is usually highway, or at the very least, it's continuous daily miles, not start/stop/start/stop... and service is usually done by a company regularly.

There's a Sprinter group at Yahoo where you could find some good advice. If you really want a Sprinter RV, it might be worth looking on www.mobile.de. There are tons of them on there and usually at good prices. It could save a lot of work doing the RV conversion. Model numbers are not the same in Europe. Don't know what the implications of importation might be.
