w123 hood hinge install

Has anyone out there actually done this? I was able to remove the damaged one. Now trying to install the new one. any tips? can't seem to get the bolt started. HELP!!!

Done it several times. Is the fender loose and pulled out of the way? That's how I did mine. No way I was going to be able to get it started without doing that.

On the SD, you can access via the wheel well. No need to pull the fender (which I did before researching). Try chasing the threads with a tap & also the bolt.

Its amazing what a bit of something like WD40 on the bolt and mounting hole can do too.

Since he was talking about a 123, not a 126 I referred to the fender movement.

I loosened up all the bolts on top and in the door. pulled off the trim at base of panel. bolts are rather rusty. i suppose i will have to work on them. any hints?
