OM606 Oil Pan Removal Tips?
Want to remove the pan w/engine in place. Decided not to pull engine until I inspect w/pan off. Any tips? Looks like the two rearmost pan bolts attach horizontally thru transmission bellhousing. I know I'll need to jack up the engine and undo motor mounts. Any other threads/suggestions? 1995 W124 E300D.

I'm not so sure you will be able to remove the pan with the engine in the car. Keep in mind that the oil pump/pick up tube sticks down into the pan a few inches. I think this would prevent you from being able to remove the pan without raising the engine a good bit.

After I hit a median curb with my oil pan and majorly cracked it, (huge downpour with standing water on the road, dark, road went from undivided to divided unbeknownst to me, and the curb was pretty much submerged) my indy was able to put a new oil pan in without removing the engine. He did have to raise it a good bit, take off steering links, etc. Not a cheap undertaking.
