Dealer service records

I went and looked at a 99 300TD today, and based on sellers input car seemed to be maintained ok. The car was serviced almost completely by MB dealer. I liked the car and plan on having a local mechanic check it out, but was wondering if I could gain acess to dealer service records if seller approves the request. Will this approach take care of the privacy issue or am I out of luck?

Just tell the seller you are really interested and will probably move on it just as soon as he furnishes you with the service records or gets you access to them. Remember the seller wants to sell that car as badly as you want to buy it - that's the way deal come together. Put the "Bee" on him!

I have even found MB dealers who will do this for you overseas. I bought a grey market 380SL that had lived in Munich until a GI bought it and brought it back. The chief archivist of the Munich dealership was very nice but could only show me stuff after I gave him a copy of the US title. Then he couldn't give me everything because the dealers don't keet info past 15 years in Germany, no requirement.

Can you imagine an American DEALER WITH AN ARCHIVIST? AND A CHIEF ARCHIVIST?
