ECM for a 1989 Mercedes 500 SEL Euro (Please Help)

I have several questions:
· What is the port on the upper right-hand corner used for?
· Is it a required hook-up?
· I notice d the hook-ups for the eight peg plugs, crank sensor, and vacuum hose.
· Does anyone have model that can replace it?
· Can I replace it with one that does not have a port on the upper left hand corner, but does have the eight peg plugs?

you may get better results if you post this in the gasser section... if you have to control your engine with anything other then timing, vacuum and boost pressure, its not a real engine.
