odd feeling between half and full acceleration?

I have this odd feeling that when I press the gas pedal halfway the car react really well and its mighty, full power instanteous, rev goes mad, but if I floor it, its more powerfull but the ratio in comparaison to the power is little?
It feel like going mad on half throttle while on full its less wilde.
Would that be I am running to rich and need to increase the boost to balance the mixed?
Or I am running too lean and this is why its mighty half throttle again to balance the mixed and therefore I should decrease the boost?
Or could it be that I have advance the IP timing too much and it would need to be brought back a little?

I am still in the dark here as I need a turbo gauge and haven't decided which one to buy. There are to many cheap looking and I have to decide where to install it and this is not easy as I don't want it on the way. The windshield pillar seems to be the better option so far.

Thank you.
Olivier

I don't know how the foot feed should feel. Mine's NA, and the power difference is quite noticeable between half-way and floored.

I would like to put a few gauges on the windshield pillar, so I am quite interested in what you may find. I'd like oil pressure, perhaps temperature, and a voltmeter. If I get creative, I might put a refrigerant high-side pressure gauge there too.

Hi Matt, 1 turbo boost gauge would be more then enought for me.
There is a difference indeed when floored or not, but it seems that half way is "instand" revs right away, while when I floor it there is a wee lag ( might be the turbo lag?) but why only when floor it?
Cheers.

I bet that if you find a decent single pod, the same company will offer pods for multiple gauges.

Does that car train the throttle response to suit the driver? I can't remember. Of course it is all electronic.

I saw one 2 days ago, like a tomtom's screen with 7 ( I think) gauges, its too cluttering to me. I like it simple & I prefer needles as well, the leds one don't do it to me.
Yes all electronic. The gearbox as a "learning" thingy, but its OK as I drive like if its a wee ford fiesta then it keep the rev high.

I also want needles. But that part is easy enough.

Hi Matt,
indeed this is a clean set up and not intrusive at all. I like it a lot.
Back to the difference on the throttle, anyone out there with similar situation?
Cheers.

OP's location is Edinburgh. I'm guessing it was offered with a turbo in Europe before we got it.

Yep, in 1997 in the UK the E300TD was turbo. Zoom Zoom
In the states you had it in 1998 if I recall properly.

1998 and 1999 only. Engine was available in one model in 1995, and then the E300 as a non-turbo in 96 and 97. 98 and 99 were turbo e-300s and then diesels were discontinued in the states for a few years.

EDIT: Not all diesels. Just M-B.
