Not enough room to take IP out
Greetings,
I am able to move my IP all the way back to where it touches the oil filter canister- that's as far back as I can go. I run my finger through where the IP shaft goes through and it feels like a tiny bit of the shaft has not made it through. I've tugged at it for a long time - Is there a special position I should get the IP in to get it out? Will I need to take the oil filter canister off? Your help will be really appreciated. Sad news, yes you will have to remove the oil filter canister.
remove the oil cooler lines at the canister, then 5 bolts. think they are 6mm hex. the one bolt close to the steering box is kind of a tight area. cut the short end of a 6mm allen wrench to make it a stubby for that one bolt. I have a short piece of 6mm, about an inch long I use also. then use a box wrench to break them loose, and then a ratchet, 3/8 and a 1/4 in ratchet once they are loose. a 6mm gear wrench works good also. be sure to have a pan to catch the oil, once the filter canister breaks free you might get a bath. loosen the lid to get the oil to drain into the pan. also order a new gasket. there is also the turbo supply line and the line to the oil gauge. I just reread your post, you have a 190, might be different. I was thinking 123 with a 617. Charlie

Not enough room to get IP out
What would I need to do to move the timing gear forward a little?
