I have a grey market car?
Hey All,
I was calling the dealer looking for a quote on some parts of my 1983 240D, so I gave him my VIN, when he asked, right off of the A-pillar. I get put on hold for 15 mins. (During this time, a guy with an 1980 300TD pulls up next to me in the parking lot - and he's thinking about selling it this summer. Score!) When the dealer comes back on the line - he tells me that my VIN isn't working, and that I might have a grey market car. He starts to explain, but then I get a call from work which I had to take. So... what exactly is going on and how do I double check it?

Put you VIN into the Russian VIN site, or send it to the MB Classic Center either will give you a build sheet with all the info on the car. Including if it was delivered to the US or to somewhere else then brought here by a tourist or something.
