how do you remove belt tensioner arm

95 e300d 606

For future reference, how do you remove the tensioner arm? Looks like a very big hex cap head - like the size of the differential filler plug. I don't have any hex wrenches big enough to remove it. Possibly there is a smaller hex head bolt deep inside the very big hex nut?

On the 603 that bolt is a 12mm hex. I use a 12mm hex bit and a 12mm gear wrench on the bit.

I went to Harbor Freight for the 12mm.

Well worth the money.

I bought a 12mm hex key and cut a 1" piece off to use with a 12mm socket and my torque wrench. I couldn't find a 12mm hex bit when I was doing the job.

My 12 point headbolt tool has a 12mm hex shank and fit perfectly to remove that bolt on my 602. The radiator was out of course! Don
