Newbie to 606 questions -- remove ada, replace intake manifold gasket a must?
Hey all. I'm working on my friends 1995 W124 with the 606 NA engine. My first encounter with the 606. I've a lot of reading to do here still but not much time today so any helpful tips are appreciated. Immediately i have a couple of questions.
I have the intake manifold off and replaced delivery valve seals and fuel return hoses. This was "done" by a "mechanic" a year ago but take a look at these pics of the orings and see what you think? Looks like they replaced a couple. They also used vacuum tube on return lines and injector holes were full of diesel. 0) What are the black vent pipe system called on this crazy looking intake? Should i replace all of em. One piece broke. 1) Should i remove the alda looking thing that is not an alda? Can it cause problems down the road? There is no vacuum tube hooked up to it? 2) Do I have to replace the intake manifold gasket. I'm guessing it is always replace type. I have one handy too . But it was like 35.00 from dealer and would love to take it back. The other one on there showed no sign of leakage. And it looks like the oil that leaks out of the 602/603 intakes seems to go up the 606 ventilation system black pipes. 3) See the two plugs in the second pic that need repair? What are they for? I believe they plugged into the manifold. 4) Any improvements , simplifications i should make under here while i am at it to eliminate future issues. We're all about less pollution / better mpg as opposed to performance. 5) Are 606 's as good as any benz for WVO? 6) Car has 176,000 about on it. Its getting 37 mpg on highway. Time for new injector nozzles ? Do they take same nozzles as 603? I have some monark DSO 314 nozzles handy. thanks.
