1995 E300D Sunroof

Just picked up a well-maintained 95' E300D for a WVO conversion. I've got a short list of things that need to be addressed, the first of which is the sunroof, which does not open. The switch seems lightly wonky, but I was hoping for some guidance on diagnosing the problem. I'm reasonably capable, but do not know if this fix is beyond me. Willing to try. Thanks in advance.

Does it make any sound like to it's trying to open?

Out of curiosity, since I also have a 95, what other work needs to be done? I bought mine four months ago and have done a lot of work to it, so I may be able to give you some pointers. Also, I go up to New Paltz every once and a while, if that's anywhere near you we could do some comparisons to figure out what's normal.

thanks for the quick reply. No sound whatsoever, which makes me think it's either the switch or the motor is shot. Other things that need addressing include door locks that are sticky (same vacuum issue as my old 240D I think), and cruise control that only works sometimes. And yes, I'm in Nyack, so perhaps we can do some comparing on our New Paltz run.

Does it do anything when trying to tilt it instead of opening it?
If you think it is the switch, can't you open all the windows and sunroof by unlocking the door and holding the key to the left for awhile, or am I just flashing back from things tried during the 70's?

The sunroof will only open automatically if it was closed using the convenience feature I believe.

good luck with WVO conversion. don't break anything as they are expensive to fix. be very careful when replacing glow plugs.

My glow plugs broke. My mechanic suggested that since they are so thin walled to replace them fairly regularly.
