603 Breather Hose to Oil Separator

I have been wanting to install an oil separator on my 1987 300TDT for a while now. My current breather hose has been leaking and in my attempt to remove it, I broke it. So there is no better time than now!

I've got all the details on how to make the separator, but what I news is an elbow that can go from the grommet on top of valve cover to 1/2". Hopefully something that I can get locally. Let me
know, thanks!

I've got your two emails saved, but i did not see anything about the elbow coming out of valve cover. My stock one is broken.

Here is what oldiesel sent me in the email:

If you broke the plastic fitting in the valve cover it is available separately, used to be you had to buy the hose assy for some crazy price. The black plastic(still called breather hose) elbow is p/n 601 016 01 23 or W0133 1638193, *the grommet in the valve cover is 601 016 01 63 or W0133 1640987. *$11.oo for the two at **********.com. I didnt use any of the old hose ect: *********Don

This is very useful, I guess there is no local fix...too bad!

*WORD OF CAUTION*

Any hose that fits should be OK, I used heater core hose from a bulk roll at Auto Zoo.

*above mentioned word of caution*
The aluminum head diesels rely on a small amount of oil coming in the intake to help with valve seat problems. For that reason, you don't want to eliminate the oil all together. It tends to be a bigger issue with OM606s, but I'll be getting rid of my 'road draft tube' since I'm not keen on being the Guinea pig.

Evan (user name KarTek) can fill you in more about that.

I wanted to find a rubber piece and I found one at Advance Auto Parts. It's made by Dorman and is called a PCV elbow. Part number 47054. It was tight buy it seems to have worked well. It is gromment and elbow in one so I like that. Fits in real snug and now I can do what I want. Thanks for all the help!

I bought a brand new breather hose from my main dealer for $19.50. I'd go back to stock. I tried to vent it and ended up with a smoldering mess.

Essentially it is stock, just with a rubber elbow. Everything else is the same.
