1985 300SD 2-3rd Transmission Shift acting up
Car: 1985 Merc 300SD w/ 213K on the clock
Problem: When cold, car shifts from 2-3 at 4500 RPM under full throttle. At partial throttle it shifts from 2-3 at about 3100 RPM. All shifts nice & crisp. If I let off on the throttle, it shifts up like it should. When the car warms up a little. Full throttle - 2-3rd shift at 4500 RPM (again, not an issue) Part throttle - 2-3rd shift at 4500 RPM (annoying as can be!) If I let off the throttle is STILL stays stuck in 2nd until I rev it up to 4500 RPM's. Here's a video of what I'm seeing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gx5rgtqy_B4 Here's a shot of my vacuum lines that go to the tranny: Coming off the pump: This one goes to the transmission: Here's where it hooks into the tranny: And this piece goes up to the dash: It has a brown orifice in it. Also, this was unhooked when I got the car.... Additional info... I've bypassed the valve between the ALDA and the intake manifold as the wire going to it was missing when I got the car and one of the lines had a crack in it. Coming right out of the ALDA: Bypassing the valve & connecting to the intake manifold: Connected to the intake manifold: I've also cleaned the banjo fitting and banjo bolt on both sides of the ALDA. Here's the diagram for my vacuum lines for this beast. I'd love any tips or tricks on what to check next... Thanks, Graydon |

Try and get the vac system hooked up properly.
