w123 Valve Cover Breather Hose

Ok so I'm trying to find a replacement for this part and I can only find it at performance products which I hope isn't the case. I do not want to order from them. The part should look like the first attachment but the only ones I find online are like the second attachment. Is this really the same part? I don't see how the hose in the second pic can function the same as the one in the first.

The flat one was superceded by the three piece set to "improve flow," if you believe EPC (I've never seen a flat one with my own eyes on any 617A). A smallish rubber elbow on the valve cover, the metal u-ish thing, and a longer rubber elbow on top of the oil seperator. Both rubbers are available at the dealer; $6 and $10 I think (just did the wife's car).

don't feel bad, I tried a frontal assault (year, make, model search) and couldn't find it, so I got the part number, and bingo there it was.

I'd get a metal tube from a junker and use the
http://catalog.peachparts.com/item.wws?sku=W0133-1641815&itempk=76426&mfr=Meyle&weight=0.03

and

http://catalog.peachparts.com/item.wws?sku=W0133-1639298&itempk=104192&mfr=Lemfoerder&weight=0.01

for less money and the later/better claims.

YM and blowby MV.

Using that factory set up has a pipe running the length of the cam cover, an item that emits heat and has a few connections. Using the flat hose, which has baffles built in, is simply connected to the cam cover and air cleaner openings.

The problem in using the flat hose is it restricts air flow for the crank case vent (CCV). This will lead to too much pressure in the crank case that it can actually cause a power loss issue. In addition to seals blowing out.

I would go the 1/2 inch round tube of the original setup.

where did you hear this? the flat tube has same surface area, and it's all one piece, so no oil leaks. I can't believe it would restrict anything.

Not hear, actually tested it out. I have had this Meyle flat tube on one of my vehicles before and did experience power loss. I can only imagine why it was leaking.

While it is indeed a fatter pipe, it has no where the same flow as a 1/2 inch round pipe. Especially with an engine with bad blow by that this car had.

There is another thread at superturbodiesel.com about this very issue with putting a restrictive breather hose.

I've been using the flat hose for years without any problems. If that or any line used collapses or gets clogged, it will kill power. Before I had a flat hose on one of my cars, I rigged up something that failed. The car slowed down and I heard a pop, turns out the line I had rigged up blew off. I limped home and installed a flat hose, no more issues.
