123 clock repair

i need to repair the clock in my 300td cluster, and i had heard the capacitors can be the problem. i believe one of the 2 caps on the little circuit board is shorted. (.3 ohms) does anyone know what value mf the replacement caps need to be? are radio shack caps gonna be ok or do i need some better quality parts? any help is greatly appreciated.

100mfd

I've repaired my wife's and my own clocks. The cap was 100mfd at 35v iirc.
Both clocks are working for 6 months. W123 and w126. I had a little solder
sucker, so it was really easy. I took the caps out of an old satellite receiver,
so it cost me only time. A bit tedious to take apart the gauge cluster, but
no big deal. Try not to overheat things getting the old caps out.

thanks for the info. i'm off to radio shack today then. i had to snag an extra cluster since my clock has a charcoal circuit board. good news is the 2nd cluster has an un burnt board and not had 5w bulbs put in it so there is almost no signs of melting. kinda cool the way these clusters can be disassembled and repaired. thanks again.

once again mucho gracias! went to radio shack, and now my clock lives again! don't know yet how well it keeps time or for how long...
also fixed the trip meter while i was in there, cleaned the bits up a little, replaced the cluster housing w/ one that had no melting of the prisms, and only a small amount of melting of 1 white plastic piece surrounding a cluster illumination bulb.
by the time i get this car 100% functional it will have dissolved into a pile of rust...
