Water Pump Time
I thank the water pump god's to allow relatively easy removal of all bolts. I have been wondering what the tapping noise was under the hood. Pump started leaking and there was nearly 1/2" fore/aft travel in the fan blade tips.
I am replacing upper & lower hoses, but have a question. I see the Geba pump ($56) @ Fastlane but the pump flutes seem stocker and squared off. The Laso ($79) fins are more curved (swept back) implying possible more effcient transfer of coolant. I am sure both will work, but is the Laso worth the additional $ 23 or so ?? Last pump was replaced 100K ago. Dealer was over $110. Thanks in advance, Gary

I am thinking the same Zeke, it would lessen cavitation, if that is a problem. This not a job I wish to repeat soon.
I will get same on order this weekend, with hoses. Thanks,

I used a Laso on my car 75,000 miles ago, it has presented 0 issues since then.

I would want to know why you only got 100k out of a water pump. if the fluid was good it should have gone a few times that mileage. Sounds like the seal went bad & washed out the bearings.
How is the GM 92 going?

The quick and simple answer as to 100K, is I dunno. The car was garaged for all of its life, but I got it after sitting 5-6 years. I did a drain and quick flush, and it is an estimate when last replaced. Seal & bearing failure is probably correct.
The DD 6V92 is fine. I do watch and measure the SCA's to prevent corrosion on the wet liners. Planning a trip to Minn next month. Take care,
