Still some issue with my 85 300D
So discovered today that my speedometer is not correct. Had a friend follow me and i though i was speeding going 80, but in fact my friend told me after that i never went over 70 to 75. I noticed that when the car is rolling that the speedo jumps from 0 to 20 and stabilizes when i get about 30mph on the speedo. Also I am still having an issue with the idle. I still have not tried to adjust the idle, but when the car is at a temp of 85 it idles ok, but it gets to about 90 and then raises the idle. So my question is should the temp go up that high. I was under the impression that it should not go over 85. Also the fan that is in the front of the car never turn on. I am guessing that could be an issue. Is the fan controlled by a relay somewhere? Any ideas would be appriciated.

Speedometers are very rarely accurate. From any manufacturer. And they tend to read high (as a fail safe mode?). Calibration is fairly cheap. Usually around US$100.
Regarding the temperature have the mechanic verify the reading. You don't know whether it is the gauge or not. |

Also another thing is that after my first tank of fuel the mpg was 24 driving around town. I was hoping to get a little more. My 96 w210 E300D gets around 30mpg driving the same roads. Just got the valves adjusted and hoping that helps a little bit. I am also going to rebuild the injectors with the monarch injector nozzles.
