Plastic piece under battery tray (123 683 22 36)

I took the battery tray off today to inspect for rust. Luckily there is only a small patch that hasn't gotten close to eating through yet. However, I did some damage to a plastic piece under the battery tray. It partially disintegrated as soon as I touched it. Here's a photo:

How important is this piece?

I searched for it and it's apparently called "COVERING RIGHT, TORSION BAR ASSEMBLY HOLE IN FRONT WHEELHOUSE".

I can't find it in any online parts stores. Is it dealership only? It looks as if it has an important function, namely keeping water from being kicked up by the tires and settling in the engine compartment.

I'm probably just going to make a replacement out of an old beer can.

lemme know if you need one, I have a few parts cars to pull from, and if they don't disintegrate I'll get one for you.

Its a dealer part, I got some about five years ago when I rebuilt my suspension. Not expensive as I recall.
