‘99 E300TD…AC Question

Need to recharge my AC. Anyone know the desired gauge readings? Temp. here in FL today about 85 degrees. Also, anyone have any ideas on why I’m blowing much colder air out of one side of the dash register (one side is actually warm) than the other, when they are both set at 72 degrees?

Thanks
Bill

pressures depend on temps, and airflow.
you want the correct amount of refrigerant in the system.
if your coils are clean, and the correct airflow across the condenser is evident, the pressures can be anywhere from 140-210 on a well working system. the evap pressures can be anywhere from 28-60 on a well working system.

Warm vents on the left side on the 210 may indicate low refrigerant level.

it all depends on the outside and inside temps, and the load on the system. is it very humid? is there water in the carpet? is the sun full on hot? all this affects the pressures.

X2 - 90% of the time that's the problem.

It can also be the duo-valve being bad but the first thing I would check is the refrigerant level and make sure it is up to snuff. My W210 used to make hissing noises also when the refrigerant was low which accompanied the warm driver's side vent. If yours hisses or sounds like it has a "steam leak" behind the dash then it is almost surely the cause.

I used to have a slow leak and found when it got to the point that it was warmer on the left side I'd just add one 12 ounce can of R134a until it came back which was usually a whole season.
