W123 Scuttle- Not looking very nice
Hi,
Not sure where I should post this but maybe an administrator can put it in the correct area. Anyway, does anyone have any experience replacing or repairing the area under the window on a W123 (scuttle). It had been bodged a bit on my 240D and I would like to do something about it. I have tried to find spares but so far no luck. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Regards Brett |

Hi Brett,
From the little I know the W126 models suffer from rear window rot so perhaps searching for that will help. See for example http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=106944&highlight=126+window |

Looks like a fun job, not to worried about removing the glass its the actual repair to the metal under the windscreen. If I can I will cut the whole thing out of another car and weld it in but it would be good to speak to someone who has done something like this before.

De-code
Brett's talking about the body work under the rear window and the metal work that holds the window seal in place to the bits that envelop the trunk.

Okay, that would be item #23, doesn't appear to be an any easy replacement.
I've highlighted the screw that needs removing once you get the fender off. And thanks, I now know what a scuttle is!
