help me install a new muffler hanger

so my muffler has been clanging around for awhile and it seems as though my muffler hangers are old and brittle so i bought new ones to install. i know that this is supposed to be a pretty easy thing to do on my own so i was hoping that someone on here could give me a little tutorial on how to go about putting new ones on....any help would be much appreciated.

Are you talking about the round rubber things?

Those are pretty easy. Just lift up on the exhaust, remove the old hangers and install the new ones. You can replace all 4 on the rear in about 1 minute or less.

Use a floor jack under the muffler. Try to purchase the chain reinforced hangers (7.81) each. Will not have to ever replace them again. Part #074920044 at Autohauz.

Sometimes I'll use a pry bar to help.

I don't remember it being real difficult. I believe I ran a large screwdriver through the ring like toomany MBZ is showing in his attached picture. Then pull it up over the hook on the body while it is on the hook on the muffler. The other way around should work as well, however you can get the best leverage.

Are you suppose to use 2/side or one on each side?

I just had new ones put on my SLC...and right now (w/1 per side) they seem to be fairly well stretched out. Almost as far as the ones that failed.

What's the deal?
