is you benz an accident magnet?

crap i hate messing up the thread title!!

I'm planning on just keeping the wagon for the long haul, so for the past year I have been waiting for the right time to do some body work on the rusty wheel wells and other cancer areas. But holy crap between hit n' runs, and clutzy neighborhood kids the laundry list grows and grows. Just a few minutes ago i heard a loud metallic thud and a kid crying out front of my house. He lost control and his handle bars scraped across my gas door He was like, "sorry about your car", he was about 10. Told him not to worry. I made sure he was okay and sent him off to baseball practice. Ahh the youth...

pic 2 is a recent hit and run.

My Dodge stealth was like that, for unknown reasons. While driving I was hit on two occasions (one time gave me a permanant back injury), countless scrapes, dings, dents from parking lots and stuff. Finally, in a snowstorm this year it met its match--an out of control ford F250. Luckily it was parked at the time but it got totaled. Its a damn shame too, it ran so well...I loved that car.

Better for it to happen while it needs work instead of after you've just had fresh body work and painting done.

Yeah. Brown Betty is a little hard on the eyes right now. People see this thing coming and they don't want to be near me. Either they think I'm slow, blow smoke (which she doesn't) or I'm a tank and will run over their 3-lugged econobox.

Who cares. I'm just glad I get space on the road.

Once I have her repainted and interior refreshed, I'm going to want a gun turret on top to reinforce the old behavior.

I had some bumper damage a few months back from a fender bender. It would allow for me to change lanes without people speeding up and trying to prevent me from getting over. They gave me all the space I needed with that impact strip hanging like that.

The day after we got the 82,my daughter parked it opposite my parents garage and went in to visit. My mother left, got in her car, backed out of the garage and into the right front MB fender!
Since then , the car has been scraped along the side in the HS parking lot, been "keyed" on the hood by an unknown assailant and other various and sundry injuries.
Since it has been a teenagers car it also has suffered from interior mayhem.
I figure I will wait till she has left for college before thinking about bodywork.
