Really nice '81 300TD

In case someone is in the market for a new 300TD, here's the best one I've seen in ebay so far:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/300TD-Turbo-Diesel-Wagon-77-000-miles-1-family-owned-/260616657165?cmd=ViewItem&pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item3cadf6990d
It's got 77K miles on it.
Everything looks like new except for the engine bay which looks very clean but does look like 77K miles.
And it's going on NO RESERVE !!!
I put it on the ebay alert thread already but thought that this one is too good to be missed out so I did a new thread on it.

It is a nice car but I doubt it is really 77K. The car looks like it has been washed from head to toe, top to bottom, which could be good or bad.

1) It averaged out to be less than 2655 miles / year. Museum piece?
2) The antenna does not work - for an enthusiast, this is not acceptable.
3) Has the registration lapsed? It shows 2009.
4) Driver door window plastic is all creased up, again not acceptable for a real enthusiast.

One should bid with caution, in capital letters. A 31 years old 77K car kept by an enthusiast should be immaculate in my opinion.

True, but it's a no reserve auction... This is not one of these fellows asking $15K. If one can get this one for, say, $4-5K... that would still be a pretty nice deal considering the rest of the car is in a very nice condition.

I meant to type 29. 77K/29 = 2655. But my fingers get in the way.

It is like measuring voltage and resistance, Discret components and 40 nano meter integrated circuit, it is all the same. The fingers get in the way.

Gorgeous car.

I wish my TDT was that clean. Perhaps little by little ours will approach that level. Our car is driven daily and has about 260K.

Love to maybe have a gorgeous 300CD.

I noticed this one has no tach, also, I have never seen this non-wood console.
The wood accents are really nice in our cars. you really appreciate this when you see a model with out.

that plastic center looks identical to my 240 console. Maybe the wood one got damaged or stained and they replaced it with a yard part out of a 240.

personally, Im a fan of the functionality of the raised window switches and hazard vs the flush window switches and hazard between the 240 and 300 models. I think the flush ones are more attractive though. The raised one makes a nice difference when you spill something.

My '80 TD has the same console. Maybe an early 1/2 year unit?

I wouldn't want it, ...the hood pads all nasty and lumpy looking

Thats a beautiful TD, it pretty hard to "bring one back" and make it look that good. IMO, a well cared for, rust free car is worth the $$,

Wow... as of right now the bid is at $8200... It might sell for close to $15K anyway.
